After almost 20 years of editing the parish Newsletter, Jeanne Neupert has filed her last dispatch, and we therefore have a “vacancy” for someone with a literary flair to take over the production of the monthly publication.
Good language and composition skills (punctuation, grammar, spelling and sentence structure) are a must, and - since most copy is sent via e-mail - computer literacy is essential. When completed each month, the finished document is e-mailed to the village website, and printing is done at Honington Primary School.

As a result of the Practice Patient Questionnaire, Ixworth Surgery will be introducing a new appointment system to resolve some of the issues raised by patients. The results highlighted that some patients felt it was difficult to book ahead with the Doctor of their choice. The new appointment system will therefore have:-
- More “Next Day” appointments
- More appointments “bookable up to 4 weeks in Advance” with the Doctor of your choice
Early Morning Starts: Once a week, a GP will be starting surgery at 8 am, to try to help those patients who need early appointments due to work and other commitments. You can book these in advance, so please ask at Reception if you need an early morning appointment. If the system works well, it is hoped to introduce pre-bookable appointments from 8 am every morning!
Late Finishes: The surgery is hoping to start trialling a late night surgery soon.
About 40 people, including residents, parish councillors and guest speakers, gathered together in the Village Hall on Monday 12 November to discuss the usefulness of drawing up a Parish Plan.
Approximately one third of parishes across Suffolk are now either considering - or engaged in - the process, which aims to enhance village life through the means of a comprehensive consultation exercise designed to ascertain what residents want from their parish.
A majority vote in favour of such a plan was given. Click on the link below to read the full report of the meeting.
